Key responsibilities
- Providing comprehensive outpatient oncology care by administering IV chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive treatments
- Educating patients and families
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, compassionate care
- Systematically and continuously collecting and assessing data related to patient health status to develop, execute and evaluate the plan of care
- Utilizing evidence to drive clinical decisions and practice related to individual and population health
- Establishing goals and strategies for meeting care coordination needs across settings with the patient, family, and/or other care providers
- Considering factors related to safety, effectiveness and fiscal accountability in planning and delivering care
- Delegating and supervising care in accordance with the WI Nurse Practice
- Participating in continuous quality improvement initiatives and assuming responsibility for professional development
Specialty clinical duties
Major responsibilities may include one or more of the following:
- Perform/direct ACLS
- Independent rhythm interpretation and defibrillation
- Administration of advanced lifesaving medications
- Independent, templated ("RN-only") visits for patient assessment, with action taken based on established protocols and/or clinical practice standards using clinical judgement to determine intervention timing/specifics
- Specialty patient education where certification/additional certificate is required for role
- Sedation
- Telemetry monitoring & interpretation/management of rhythm changes
- Assisting with complex procedures
- Advanced wound therapy (VACs, debridement, etc.)
- Central line management (TPA administration) and maintenance (dressing / cap changes, access / flushing)
- Device interrogation and interpretation with resultant action
- Complex infusions (concurrent infusions, hazardous medication administration, blood and blood products, etc.)
Work may also include patient care coordination, direct patient care, patient education, telephone triage/eVisits, and performing/assisting with minor procedures. May float to other areas as needed for operations need.
Experience
- Clinical experience and/or interest in the care and management of patient populations specific to the area of employment is required
- At least 1 year of relevant nursing experience is preferred
Education
- Nursing licensure is required
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred
Training
- Oncology: RNs must have/attain an oncology nursing certification or complete 10 hours oncology-focused CE education/year on an ongoing basis
Licensure
- Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact)
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire

- FTE: 0.875000
- Standard Hours: 35.00
- Four 10-hour shifts one week, three 10-hour shifts the alternate week
- Shift: Shift 1
- Location: US:WI:MILWAUKEE at Froedtert Hospital facility
