About the role

Baton Rouge General seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Burn Unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in assessing and managing burn patients, as well as experience in pediatric to elderly patient populations.

Responsibilities

  • Captures patient health data and prioritizes assessments based on immediate conditions.
  • Determines nursing diagnoses and identifies expected outcomes based on assessments.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and update individualized care plans.
  • Delivers direct patient care, ensuring patient rights are maintained and treatments are administered accurately.
  • Evaluates patient progress and revises care plans as needed.
  • Assists with burn wound care procedures such as debridements, dressing changes, and preparing patients for surgeries.
  • Analyzes patient care delivery and coordinates unit admissions and discharges.

Requirements

  • Current Louisiana RN license.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS).

Qualifications

  • No formal education required.
  • Experience preferred: 1 year RN I, 3 years RN II & III.
  • Knowledge of basic ECG rhythm interpretation.
  • Proficiency in assessing and managing burn patients according to department guidelines.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Basic ECG interpretation skills.
