About the Role

This is a full-time position within the Bloomingon Clinic/Bone Health department, operating Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Responsibilities

• Performs assessment and data collection in an ongoing, systematic manner, focusing on patients' physiologic and cognitive status.
• Formulates or individualizes a predefined, goal-consistent, and continuous nursing process using pre-determined standards for structure, process, and desired patient outcomes.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of care given by self and all healthcare team members, including the contribution of systems, environment, and instrumentation.
• Demonstrates competency in select psychomotor skills adhering to predefined written procedures.
• Identifies patient learning needs and readiness for learning; implements patient/significant other instruction to meet self-care needs.
• Performs documentation responsibilities following existing structure standards and guidelines.
• Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to patient rights as identified within the institution.
• Functions with an awareness of and adherence to safety requirements as identified in existing standards.
• Performs efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols, remaining calm and documenting events.
• Demonstrates applied knowledge base in areas such as structure standards, patient care resources/references, protocols, pertinent drugs, standard of care, and significant lab values.
• Demonstrates self-responsibility and accountability for own professional practice within the Illinois Practice Act.
• Participates actively in staff development activities by sharing knowledge and using appropriate teaching/learning strategies to assist peers.
• Demonstrates self-directed learning and participation in continuing education to meet professional development needs.
• Seeks validation of knowledge base, skill level, and decision-making as necessary; assertively requests guidance in areas of question.

• Remains flexible in staffing patterns and resolution of staffing conflicts; participates in temporary assignment measures.
• Demonstrates problem identification skills using PI tools/methods; demonstrates sound clinical and operational decision-making abilities.
• Demonstrates an attitude of seeking knowledge and rationale for actions; applies theory/data to clinical settings.
• Assists LPN, CMA/CNA with rooming and interviewing patients as needed.
• Manages a clinical nursing schedule to administer injections, IVs, and lab draws under the direct order of the APP.
• May travel to other clinics with physicians within the department.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Visual acuity to observe patient assessment data and use manual/automated documentation tools.
• Auditory acuity to hear patient verbal communication and gather data using auscultatory skills.
• Manual dexterity of hands and feet to ambulate 8-12 hours per shift.
• Physical strength to perform CPR (bed/floor), lift/push/pull 60-300 pounds, and perform constant walking, twisting, turning, and stretching maneuvers.

  • Pull 40 pounds/force for 30 feet
• Keen mental faculties to perform assessment and decision-making skills in managing acutely ill patients.
• Communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone.
• Emotional stability to handle high-stress levels for 8-12 hours associated with caring for acute patients, fast-paced physical activity, and rapidly changing patient conditions.

Schedule

Full time, Monday - Thursday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM.
