RN (BHU) - Loan Forgiveness - Full Time, Days (Bellflower)

Specially trained to monitor and utilize therapeutic equipment necessary to provide specialized nursing care to patients with behavioral and/or mental disorders. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for assigned patients, ensuring coordination among disciplines, physicians, and support staff.

Responsibilities

• Performs professional nursing duties incorporating psychosocial, psychomotor, and age-appropriate cognitive skills to assess, plan, intervene, and advocate for patients and their families.
• Reevaluates patient response, outcomes, and effectiveness of the plan of care, revising or making referrals as necessary.
• Acts as a role model and mentor to new graduate nurses, orientees, and support staff.
• Professional Clinical Practice: Provides patient care, reviews and administers medications, treatments, and procedures safely and effectively. Recognizes changes in patient conditions and intervenes appropriately.
• Collaborates with the healthcare team to advocate for patients and intervenes in instances of abuse, assault, neglect, or resource limitations.
• Plan of Care: Develops long and short-term goals consistent with treatment plans and patient preferences. Utilizes pain management resources and provides ongoing assessments of physical and psychosocial conditions.
• Reviews and communicates patient test results, incorporating findings into the plan of care. Ensures nursing practice is evidence-based, compliant with standards, and adheres to infection control and HIPAA guidelines.
• Collaboration: Coordinates care with physicians, healthcare teams, and support staff. Supervises, monitors, and delegates patient care activities, ensuring safety and high quality.
• Provides education and guidance about treatment plans, medications, and discharge planning.
• Communication: Demonstrates empathy and compassion, tailoring care to the patient’s age, cultural, religious, gender identity, or ethnic background. Engages in thoughtful interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.

Requirements

• Active, current, and unencumbered California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• AHA Basic Life Support certification.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to maintain flexibility and composure in a constantly changing environment.
• Management of Assaultive Behavior Certification (required upon start date).
• Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (required for Los Angeles City, Hollywood, and Van Nuys employees).

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Bilingual skills for effective communication with patients and families.
• Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (RN-BC).

Pay

Pay rate: $48.00 – $66.80 per hour (average rate for 12 total hours worked, including overtime).

$20,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates. To qualify, you must have one or more years of acute care RN hospital experience. Current or former Alta Hospital employees may not be eligible. Bonus is paid in increments over 24 months for full-time employees in good standing.
