RN ASC Operating Room Nurse

About the Role

Provides safe, quality patient care in the Intraoperative area. Accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care during the intraoperative period.

Responsibilities

• Participates and maintains a culture consistent with The Corvallis Clinic’s Service and Behavioral Standards.
• Assesses patient status during pre-op interview and on a continuing basis.
• Provides safe, therapeutic quality care using the nursing process and nursing diagnosis in a timely manner, setting appropriate priorities.
• Documents interventions and patient responses.
• Ensures provision of patient care in an organized and timely manner.
• Utilizes nursing care standards when planning and implementing patient care.
• Communicates patient conditions to surgeons, anesthesia, management, and other staff as needed.
• Safely carries out physician’s orders correctly and promptly, documenting all activities.
• Assists Anesthesia staff as needed.
• Displays understanding of each patient’s cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturity in assessments, treatment, and care.
• Participates in the orientation and training of new employees.
• Maintains competencies to function in the RN role within the specific area.
• Protects sedated and anesthetized patients by identifying safety hazards (e.g., electrical, equipment, pressure points) and minimizing exposure to maintain privacy and body temperature.
• Applies expertise in safety principles, asepsis, sterile technique, and universal precautions.
• Assesses, anticipates, and implements appropriate care throughout the surgical process.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing.
• Current unencumbered State of Oregon license as a Registered Nurse.
• Current CPR certification; ACLS or ability to obtain ACLS within six (6) months of hire date.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to complete BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• 1+ years of OR experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR).
• PALS certification.
• 1+ years of experience in an acute care hospital.
• Multispecialty experience.
• Complete knowledge and understanding of peri-operative nursing care in a freestanding ambulatory surgery center.
• Working knowledge of the nursing process.
• Basic clinical skills to provide patient care.
• Ability to manage emergency situations calmly and confidently.
• Flexibility and leadership with unscheduled procedure changes.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, delegate, and assign duties to non-licensed personnel.
• Skills in equipment usage and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work well with providers, clinical staff, and patients.
• Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality.
• Adherence to all policies and procedures, including confidentiality, infection control, safety (OSHA), attendance, personal electronic equipment, punctuality, and appearance.
• Participation in Quality Improvement activities, including identifying opportunities for cost reductions and efficiencies.

Pay

The hourly pay for this role ranges from $35.00 to $63.00 per hour based on full-time employment, depending on factors such as local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available for external candidates.
