About the role

Join Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital’s team of caregivers, providing professional nursing care to patients in a fast-paced ambulatory urology setting with a strong focus on complex urologic oncology care. You will manage patient triage, symptom assessment, and clinical decision-making while caring for a high volume of procedure patients, including those receiving chemotherapy. This role involves performing comprehensive nursing assessments, administering treatments, collaborating closely with providers and the interdisciplinary team, and delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting.
  • Assess health status, complete nursing assessments, perform telephone triage, and establish care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments.
  • Initiate CPR and other emergency measures as needed.
  • Notify the physician and/or Licensed Independent Provider (LIP) of abnormal findings.
  • Assist with specialized diagnostic procedures, therapeutic procedures, and specialized patient care equipment.
  • Develop, evaluate, adapt, and document health education for patients and families.
  • Assist in preparation of department-specific education for patients and colleagues.
  • Facilitate smooth operation of the ambulatory areas.
  • Participate in quality initiatives, process improvements, and research activities to improve patient outcomes, patient experience, and patient safety.
  • Maintain professional growth and development in the nursing field and identify annual core competencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
  • One year of recent experience as an RN.
  • OR LPN, Medical Assistant, and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting.
  • OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Three years of recent experience as an RN.
  • Prior leadership experience.
  • Urology experience or strong LPN experience.
  • ER experience.
  • Experience performing procedures at bedside.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
  • May require some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
  • Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Personal Protective Equipment: Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

  • Days: 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
