RN Ambulatory – Orthopaedics

About the role

Join Cleveland Clinic’s Martin South Hospital, a 100-bed facility providing top-quality patient care to the communities in and around Martin County. You will work alongside passionate physicians, nurses, and other caregivers in a family-oriented, supportive environment within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. This department specializes in treating bone, joint, and connective tissue conditions and disorders, offering a full range of surgical and non-surgical options for the hip, knee, shoulder, upper extremities, foot, ankle, hand, and wrist. As an RN, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient care journey, interacting directly with patients and their families to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education.

This position requires floating between Tradition Hospital, Martin South Medical Office Building, and Hobe Sound as needed. The schedule for this role is days from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting.
• Assess health status, complete nursing assessments, perform telephone triage, and establish care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments.
• Initiate CPR and other emergency measures as needed.
• Notify the physician and/or Licensed Independent Provider (LIP) of abnormal findings.
• Assist with specialized diagnostic procedures, therapeutic procedures, and specialized patient care equipment.
• Develop, evaluate, adapt, and document health education and provide it to patients and families.
• Cover other nursing roles within the department.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (ADN or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• In areas performing moderate sedation procedures and/or cardiac stress testing, must have current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through American Red Cross Certification within 6 months of hire.
• One year of recent experience as an RN OR LPN, Medical Assistant, and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements

• Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
• May require some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
• Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Even though the weight lifted may be negligible, the job is rated Light Work when it requires:
  • Walking or standing to a significant degree; or
  • Sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or
  • Working at a production rate pace entailing constant pushing and/or pulling of materials.
