About the role

7 North West is a 28-bed acute care unit that primarily focuses on an interdisciplinary care approach for medical and surgical patients with the Medical Hospitalist Service. At Guthrie, bedside acute care nurses benefit from Virtual RNs stationed at our Pulse Center. These Virtual RNs streamline tasks, enabling more direct patient care and freeing up valuable time for what matters most.

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
• 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Robert Packer Hospital, 7 Main Acute Care Unit, Sayre, PA

Responsibilities

• Assesses, diagnoses, plans, implements, and evaluates patients' care
• Develops, updates, and coordinates the patients' plan of care to achieve patient goals and optimize outcomes
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate
• Performs and maintains the currency of essential competencies as required by a specific area of hire and population served
• Advocates for ethical and holistic care by partnering in care planning to promote autonomy, dignity, rights, values, and beliefs of patients
• Fosters a learning environment for patients/families, nursing, and other members of the healthcare team, including students
• Facilitates formal and informal learning for patients/families, nursing, other members of the healthcare team, and community
• Aligns practice with safety and quality; integrates evidence and best practice into nursing care
• Uses data and evidence to improve patient outcomes
• Aligns patient safety, self-safety, and environmental safety as equally important for best outcomes
• Engages in ongoing professional development; practices at the top of license within legal parameters
• Promotes a culture of inquiry that explores, integrates, and disseminates research and evidence-based practice
• Demonstrates leadership as change agents using collaborative leadership skills
• Appropriately delegates, coordinates care, and collaborates with others as equal members of the inter-professional care team
• Models professional behaviors as a representative of the nursing profession
• Participates in the planning and presentation of educational programs
• Proficient in information technology, such as electronic health records and communication systems
• Works effectively with a wide range of staff as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Uses independent, critical judgment in all aspects of patient care delivery
• Manages multiple responsibilities, urgent responses, and challenging situations

Requirements

• Registered Nurse currently licensed in the state of employment
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse, or transitioned from the Newly Licensed Registered Nurse Residency (NLRN) Program
• BLS certification (required)
• ACLS certification (unit dependent)
• BSN in Nursing preferred
• Specialty Certification preferred
