About the Role
Perform loading and unloading of RJW trucks and outside carriers, ensure proper storage of shipments in the warehouse, and pick orders from warehouse inventory as directed.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload truck/trailers safely and efficiently using proper procedures, including outside carrier equipment.
- Pick and move items ranging from 1 lb to 50 lbs or more multiple times.
- Ensure all documentation is properly completed and coordinate with dispatch and sales to resolve discrepancies.
- Properly store all inbound loads in the correct warehouse location and ensure shipments are marked before storing or picking.
- Maintain warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping.
- Spot trailers to maintain efficient yard organization and flow of equipment into the warehouse.
- Coordinate paperwork with drivers after normal dispatch operations are finished for the day.
- Perform general maintenance of the area surrounding the warehouse.
- Ensure trailers are swept clean of debris when empty.
- Stage and load shipments correctly and process outbound freight cross-dock freight as necessary.
- Operate Stand-up Reach Forklifts, Cherry Pickers, and sit-down forklifts.
- Follow all safety procedures at all times.
- Build pallets and break down stock.
- Work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager.
Requirements
- 1 year of forklift driving experience.
- Certified Forklift License.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to operate a Forklift, Cherry Picker, and Stand-up Reach Forklift.
- Good communication, problem resolution, and people skills.
- Ability to maintain an orderly warehouse operation.
Skills
- Proficient in English communication, reading, writing, and speaking.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
- Basic mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Problem-solving skills to deal with concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
- Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to determine the root cause of problems and implement corrective actions.
- Knowledge of business operating systems, internet software, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
Physical Demands
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Capable of using phone systems with keyboards and buttons.
- Comfortable speaking in front of others.
- Regularly works in an indoor/office environment and uses repetitive hand motion.
- Frequently required to talk, hear, stand, and walk.
- Ability to work in excess of 8 continuous hours when required.
- Ability to work under stressful situations and maintain work accuracy.
- Good cognitive skills and ability to concentrate on multiple tasks.
- 20/20 corrected vision to read and discern visual images on various media.
- Ability to speak and communicate clearly over telephones.
- Sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician, with no evidence of controlled substance use.
Work Environment
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
- Noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet to moderately loud.
