Responsibilities
- Ensure the promotion and maintenance of high standards within the organization.
- Provide technical advice and account risk quality information to underwriting for risk management and selection.
- Conduct onsite and phone surveys of organizations to evaluate the scope of business operations, safety culture, identify hazards, and overall risk control quality for various types of oil and gas operations.
- Provide risk services to help existing customers identify and eliminate or mitigate existing loss exposures.
- Write detailed risk evaluation reports that provide a technical assessment of risk, address safety culture and risk control practices, and offer meaningful recommendations for improvement.
- Build and maintain relationships with underwriting, claims, senior leadership, and other Risk Control staff.
- Develop key relationships with brokers/agents and customers to foster long-term business relationships through successful account renewals.
- Serve as a technical resource to underwriters, claims handlers, and managers, acting as a subject matter expert on oil and gas operations, conducting research on emerging issues, and participating in industry groups.
- Work directly with customers to control insured hazards and reduce or prevent losses.
- Analyze loss trends, recognize opportunities to provide risk control products or services that can help reduce losses.
- Create and document work completed in a manner that meets quality and timeliness expectations.
Qualifications
- Technical and practical knowledge of the upstream oil and gas industry, safety, and risk management practices, including a working knowledge of health, safety, environmental, security, and quality practices, requirements, and regulations.
- Experience in the upstream oil and gas sector of at least 5 years.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to listen effectively.
- Analytical skills to critically assess risks related to exposures, hazards, and risk management quality.
- Effective time management skills to prioritize and deliver quality results efficiently.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in new and renewal business development.
- Strong technical and computer skills, including proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite to create and modify documents and complex spreadsheets.
- The ability to navigate and safely access customer sites, which may include uneven, wet, icy, unstable, or obstacle-covered surfaces.
- A minimum of 25% overnight travel and frequent day trips, with the use of a company truck.
