Risk Management Coordinator-RN
Job Description
The Risk Management Coordinator reports to the Manager of Risk Management, under indirect supervision. The primary responsibilities include administering the online occurrence reporting system for the Medical Center, providing daily monitoring, investigation, and intervention regarding occurrences. The coordinator also provides regular hospital-wide staff education for occurrence reporting, prepares monthly occurrence monitoring reports, administers tracking and reporting for the federally-mandated Safe Medical Device Act, assists in preparing risk analysis of serious and sentinel events, and provides backup as needed for Customer Satisfaction.
Requirements
- Routinely examine and maintain awareness of legislative or regulatory activities related to health care risk management.
- Maintain working knowledge of various codes, laws, rules and regulations concerning patient care and incident reporting, including those mandated by state and federal agencies.
- Expertise and knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, good organizational skills, and flexibility, along with good written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Licenses, Certifications
- Licensure as a registered nurse by the SC Board of Nursing.
- Certification in Risk Management desirable.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting – particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Talking – expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
- Walking – moving about the premises to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.
- Continuous – 6-8 hours per shift;
- Frequent – 2-6 hours per shift;
- Infrequent – 0-2 hours per shift.
Additional Job Description
- Bachelor degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing and two years experience as a Registered Nurse required.
- Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
- Certification in Risk Management desirable.
- A working knowledge of various codes, laws, rules and regulations concerning patient care and incident reporting, including those mandated by state and federal agencies helpful.
- Expertise and knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook required.
