Risk Management Advisor

Primary Responsibilities

• Serve as primary liaison for carriers/TPAs, defense counsel, and various vendors and oversee their performance.
• Manage coordination of prompt and thorough claims investigations to determine eligibility and compensability (3-point contacts) within 24 hours of receiving notice and prepare concise written investigation notes.
• Communicate effectively with management, coworkers, providers, consultants, and representatives from various regulatory agencies to explain 3PL Casualty, Property, Marine and Workers’ Compensation programs, answer questions, resolve issues, and complaints concerning benefits while establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships.
• Coverage of general risk management activities including insurance renewals, certificates of insurance.
• Avoid repetitive tasks by focusing on claims investigations, claims management, and risk assessment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field
• 8 years of relevant experience with at least 4 years of assessing risks & claims including serious injury and complex litigation claims on a national level
• Strong knowledge of workers’ compensation, contracts, damages, agency, subrogation, contribution/indemnity, insurance and other applicable/related laws, as well as related concepts and practices

Skills

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, and ADP HRIS/Payroll
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, customer service, and problem resolution and conflict management skills
• Strong communication skills
