Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate utility pre-construction, construction, and maintenance projects and other utility-related work occurring within public rights-of-way.
- Inspect and evaluate right-of-way work in progress to ensure repairs, maintenance, and project activities are performed in accordance with city standards and specifications.
- Provide and update project information within a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) (e.g., Cityworks), including project status, construction updates, and warranty inspection notes.
- Schedule and participate in pre-construction meetings.
- Respond to utility emergencies and other situations affecting public rights-of-way; assess conditions and coordinate appropriate response with project leadership.
- Monitor job sites to ensure compliance with safe work practices and procedures, including MUTCD, OSHA standards, and applicable organizational safety policies.
- Follow all safety procedures, report unsafe conditions or activities, utilize required safety equipment, and ensure safe work environments for all personnel.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, codes, regulations, and standards related to ROW and civil construction.
- Prepare, complete, and maintain various forms, reports, correspondence, and project documentation.
- Communicate effectively with management, internal teams, contractors, customers, and the public to coordinate activities, resolve issues, and provide project updates.
- Participate in the development and improvement of goals, objectives, policies, and procedures; recommend process improvements as needed.
- Perform general maintenance tasks as required, including vehicle inspections, cleaning, and equipment upkeep to ensure operational readiness.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with public and/or private utilities.
- Working knowledge of public-sector right-of-way regulations and civil construction plans.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Ability to document project status and updates within a CMMS platform and develop proficiency as required.
- Strong understanding of ROW regulations, construction specifications, and material control practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Valid Colorado driver's license required with the ability to operate a company vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
- An Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field.
- Additional experience working with public and private utilities and interpreting civil construction plans and ROW requirements.
