Rigging Worker.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program and may require work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay may be required.

Duties

• Perform activities in receiving, issuing, storing, segregating, selecting, handling, preparing, inventory, and shipping of explosive and inert ordnance material.
• Demonstrate skill in rigging, stowage and storage, forklift operation, ordnance material preparation, documentation, inventory, blocking and bracing, and motor vehicle operations.
• Ensure all procured parts have proper certification documentation.
• Assist in the proper disposal of ordnance handling equipment that is beyond repair, obsolete, or otherwise deemed no longer viable for useful service.
• Responsible for all rigging for ammunition handling at piers, ships, production buildings, and other work sites.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Required to obtain and maintain a current CDL Class A license.
• Required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
• Required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• Required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• Required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g., fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• May require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. Must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• Requires visual acuity and accurate color discrimination.
• Must be willing and able to climb ladders and scaffolding.
• Must be willing and able to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 50 pounds in weight.
• This position requires exposure to high noise levels.
