Rigging Superintendent
Job Summary
In this role, you will lead a team to provide rigging/heavy haul engineering support to a large project. You will review and approve transport studies, determine equipment requirements, develop strategies for project management, assign work tasks, and monitor progress.
Major Responsibilities
- May serve as Lead Rigging Superintendent, providing discipline supervision of superintendents
- Provides oversight & technical direction to subordinates and subcontractors
- Covers manpower and rigger qualification requirements
- Reviews weekly scheduled work plans with discipline superintendents to ensure the project has the rigging resources available with the proper qualifications to support the planned work scopes
- Ensures that scheduling concerns and constraints are identified and elevated to the construction management team
- Orders tools and equipment needed for lifting operation
- Overall responsibility to inspect lifting beams, spreader bars, slings, etc., and keep them in proper storage and optimal conditions
- Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely
Education And Experience Requirements
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge And Skills
- Experience with large-scale industrial or infrastructure construction projects
- Strong understanding of rigging operations
- Knowledge and experience preparing and understanding lifting plans of mechanical equipment
- Experience with survey coordination
- Understanding of SWPP, heavy lift classification
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical & piping drawings and specifications
- Strong coordination and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with document control systems
