Rigging Shop Assistant

Duties/Responsibilities

• Perform splicing and swaging for customer orders
• Aid in the installation of rigging products
• Understand and adhere to the proper use of all equipment and tools in the field and shop
• Ensure the rigging team represents the highest expression of our brand and service
• Generate quotes, orders, production, and payments for rigging products and services
• Inform store staff and services about the capabilities of the rigging shop
• Protect crew members and customers by maintaining a safe and clean shop environment
• Comply with all safety rules and standards while working in the shop and the field
• Contribute to the stability and reputation of the shop by adhering to all legal requirements
• Be available to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including nights, weekends, and some holidays

• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• General sailing and boat knowledge with the ability to read measurements, both imperial and metric

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
• Manual dexterity to evaluate, install, and modify equipment

Other Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
• Willing to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and DMV checks per the West Marine Driver Fleet Safety Program
• Willing to work a varied shift based upon business needs, including unscheduled overtime
