Hardware Shop Assistant
The Role
We're looking for a full-time Hardware Shop Assistant to own the cleanliness, organization, and physical readiness of our hardware shop. This is a hands-on role for someone meticulous, reliable, and hungry to keep a space in top shape. We need a dedicated person who takes pride in the environment itself, keeps our tools and machines in good working order, and makes sure the basics never slip while supporting a highly technical team.
What You'll Do
- Keep the hardware shop clean, organized, and in pristine condition day to day, including floor care and common areas
- Arrange and maintain workstations, staging areas, and equipment zones so engineers can move fast
- Care for and properly stage sensitive hardware - robots, cameras, LiDAR units, tools, and components
- Manage organization and basic inventory of tools, parts, and supplies, including ordering simple replacement items (e.g. broken drill bits) as needed
- Maintain machine shop equipment and keep it in good working order
- Run and manage 3D print queues, keeping printers stocked, calibrated, and producing
- Receive, ship, and schedule deliveries - make sure nothing gets missed, and coordinate incoming/outgoing shipments in the warehouse
- Cookordination with outside contractors and vendors for facilities needs
- Maintain order and safety around heavy equipment and active work areas
- Spot what needs attention before anyone asks, and handle it
What We're Looking For
- Someone who gets genuinely excited about walking into a shop or lab and making it clean, organized, and functional
- A high attention to detail and a strong sense of order
- Comfortable in a hands-on, industrial, hardware-heavy environment, including lifting up to 50 lbs, etc.
- Valid forklift certification, or willingness to obtain one - we'll provide training
- Reliable, proactive, and self-directed
- A "no task is beneath me" mindset - at Gritt, founders take out the trash, and we expect everyone to pitch in wherever it's needed
- Comfortable handling day-to-day coordination (deliveries, vendors, contractors) - this is for someone who's dependable when it comes to logistics
- A plus (or aptitude to learn) background or interest in hardware/robotics, fabrication tools/machines
