Rigging Engineer II

Responsibilities

• Provide engineered lift drawings showing rigging/lifting components, equipment positions, and clearances.
• Perform lift analysis and rigging design for daily operations.
• Support and mentor junior staff with technical reviews.
• Provide guidance to field and estimating departments for handling, lifting, and installing equipment.
• Determine proper lift equipment based on various factors.
• Apply innovative techniques for specialized rigging challenges.
• Survey construction sites to identify potential interferences and hazards.
• Review rigging aspects of jobs with the estimating department.
• Prepare drawings and explanations for project methods for bid proposals.
• Assist in preparing specifications and soliciting quotations for rigging-related needs.
• Develop preliminary lifting/construction plans for proposals.
• Travel to field construction sites as needed and provide oversight for heavy lift operations.
• Ensure client facilities can withstand temporary forces during lifting operations.
• Review and approve subcontracted lifting and rigging plans.
• Participate in client and internal meetings to communicate design activities.

Requirements

• B.S. in Civil Engineering with a Structural Engineering concentration.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) License.
• Experience in rigging, below-the-hook, temporary supports design, and analysis.
• Strong background in construction and procurement.
• Experience in design and analysis of falsework, bolted connections, welded connections, shoring, and structural stability.
• Experience reading, reviewing, and approving shop and fabrication drawings.
• 2-5 years of experience in rigging structural design and analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

• M.S. in Civil Engineering with a Structural Engineering concentration.
• Knowledge of RISA 3D, Mathcad, MATLAB, SolidWorks, AutoCAD 3D, and Revit.
• 2–5 years of experience in rigging.
• Experience preparing or evaluating critical lifting and heavy transport plans with industry software.
• Knowledge of ASME, ASTM, AISC, ASCE codes and their application.
• Experience with RISA 3D or SolidWorks Simulation FEA (or equivalent).

Work Environment

• Must be able to travel, approximately 20%.
• Ability to work at our Headquarters in Long Beach, CA.
• Standard office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use; may occasionally require standing or moving between office areas.

$75,000-$100,000 per year.
