Job Responsibilities
- Operation of various broadcast equipment including, but not limited to; Light board and studio television cameras during live and taped productions, teleprompter and Audio assistant
- Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to move or support materials such as heavy equipment.
- Tilt, dip, and turn suspended loads to maneuver over, under, and/or around obstacles, using multi-point suspension techniques.
- Test rigging to ensure safety and reliability.
- Select gear such as slings, shackles, chokers and winches, according to load weights and sizes, facilities, and work schedules.
- Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, using bolts and clamps.
- Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.
- Act as floor director during live and taped productions if requested by the Manager.
- Auxiliary duties such as studio scenery movement and assisting as production grip on live and tape productions.
- Comply with regulations and safety requirements.
Required Skills & Experience
- Understand weights of equipment and rigging tools
- Read blueprints / plans and/or create lift plans
- Fluent in Spanish (read and write)
- Detail oriented with ability to work with tight deadlines and juggle multiple projects simultaneously
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Skilled at driving lifting equipment
- Skilled with power tools
- Willingness to take feedback/criticism and improve upon skills
Eligibility & Physical Requirements
- Position involves much studio work and occasional field productions.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, type, and sit 10-12 hours / day
- May include standing for many hours, operating human lift equipment, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, etc.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. as needed
- Must be able to go up and down on ladder, steps, or other lifts as needed
