About the role
The Rig Manager oversees all aspects of daily rig operations, supervising employees and managing rig equipment. They are responsible for ensuring safety, planning maintenance, and communicating with customers and company personnel.
Responsibilities
- Ensure safety of all onsite personnel
- Supervise, direct, and train drilling rig crew members
- Manage rig operations, production, maintenance, and personnel
- Understand and implement Comprehensive Rig Inspection (CRI) criteria
- Initiate and foster productive partnerships with customer representatives
- Operate and maintain rig equipment, plan preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot issues
- Plan and supervise rig moves, including rig up/down procedures
- Communicate with Driller and Customer representatives
- Lead pre- and post-tour meetings, including crew fit-for-duty evaluations
- Fill in for Driller or other rig-based employees as needed
- Work independently and manage tasks with minimal distractions
- Perform general upkeep of the rig and drilling floor
- Complete required training and testing
Requirements
- Lift/carry, pull/push, reach, squat, kneel, and climb ladders/stairs
- Comfortable working at heights for extended periods
- Clear vision to judge distances and maintain awareness
- Strong computer skills and ability to use standard formulas and equations
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to travel, work irregular hours, and attend training
- Pass pre-employment drug and alcohol tests, background checks, and periodic drug/alcohol testing
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid state-issued driver’s license
- At least 2 years of prior experience as a Driller
- At least 1 year of prior experience as a Rig Manager with PTEN
- Advanced education (college, trade school, etc.) preferred
- Certifications in Well Control, CPR/First Aid, Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Safety Training
Additional Details
- Work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
- Rate of pay: Starting at $134,500
- Eligible for per diem, car allowance, and cell phone allowance

- Work schedule includes 14 days on / 14 days off, 12.5 hour shifts, and may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays
