Ride Operator
About the role
The Ride Operator is responsible for operating the ultimate flying ride at Flyover Chicago, ensuring guest and team member safety, and coordinating ride malfunctions and evacuations.
Responsibilities
- Operating the Flyover Chicago ride
- Maintaining guest and team member safety
- Communicating efficiently using proper radio protocol
- Performing site opening and closing duties, including basic ride checks
- Recovering ride malfunctions
- Cooking ride malfunctions
- Coordinating ride evacuation in accordance with procedures
- Looking out for and informing Supervisors and Technical team of safety concerns
- Other duties as needed
Requirements
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, computer, and technical systems
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and guest service skills
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- A positive, adaptable, and resourceful attitude with a proactive, team-oriented approach
- Comfortable standing, walking, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments for extended periods
- Safety training or previous experience in working at heights
- Ability to safely work at heights; fall protection training or previous experience is considered an asset
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds as needed
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Previous experience in attractions, amusement rides, tourism, or hospitality is preferred
- Knowledge of the Chicago area and local attractions is an asset
- Public speaking experience and fluency in a language other than English are considered assets
