Revit/CAD Designer
What You Will Do
GFT is seeking a Revit / CAD Designer – Geotechnical Dams & Hydraulics to join our Geotechnical Dams & Hydraulics team. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at any of the following locations: Denver, CO, Roseville, CA, Oakland, CA, Phoenix, AZ, Salt Lake City, UT.

What You’ll Be Challenged To Do
- Work within the project Common Data Environment (CDE) following established digital delivery workflows.
- Cook up with the Digital Delivery and IT teams to ensure models, data, and standards are applied correctly.
- Support model setup, file organization, and data integration for projects.
- Aid in maintaining model quality, consistency, and alignment with project BIM standards.
- Troubleshoot basic modeling, referencing, and data exchange issues and escalate when needed.
- Integrate design models with GIS and other project data sources for improved project context.
- Participate in digital coordination meetings to support model alignment across disciplines.
- Stay current with relevant BIM tools, features, and model-centric design practices.
- Provide informal guidance to team members on model-based workflows and digital tools.
- Aid engineering staff with the development of roadway, drainage, and related dams, dam rehabilitations, and dam decommissioning along with their appurtenant structures using model-based workflows.
- Aid in the creation and modification of 3D models, alignments, profiles, and corridors using Autodesk design platforms.
- Aid in the preparation of construction documents, plan sheets, and design deliverables from project models, including the development of engineering design drawings, issued for construction.
- Interpret and develop site plans, profiles, sections, details, structural layouts, schematics, and equipment layout for engineering design drawings, utilizing a firm grasp of civil and structural engineering concepts, such as surface grading, structures, structural reinforcement, and mechanical layout.
- Read and understand engineering markups for design drawings, plan sets, details, and figures, maintain attention to detail by back-checking and reviewing prepared design drawings.
- Cook up design elements with survey, utilities, structures, and other disciplines.
- Apply standards, client requirements, and project specifications to design tasks.
- Participate in project meetings to coordinate technical design and modeling decisions.
- Review design work for quality, accuracy, and constructability within the model environment.
- Support project delivery through all phases, including concept, preliminary, and final design.
- Aid in responding to review comments and revising models and plans accordingly.
- Manage various tasks, working on multiple projects concurrently.
- Have a clear understanding of individual project expectations and deadlines to manage the day-to-day schedule and workload.
Education | Experience
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in the dam and hydraulic structure industry.
- Proficient in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) for dam and hydraulic structure infrastructure projects.
- Proficient Autodesk Revit, CAD, etc.
- Solid communication skills.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to troubleshoot technical challenges.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
What We Prefer You Bring
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related industry experience.
- Proficient in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, ACC, Civil3D, and InfraWorks.
- Proficiency in ProjectWise.
- Working knowledge of Microstation is a plus.
- Working knowledge of API is a plus.
- Experience working on complex, multidisciplinary projects in a BIM environment.
- Understanding of 3D BIM processes, including clash detection, scheduling, and quantity take-offs.
- Knowledge of ISO 19650 and other relevant BIM.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
