About the role

The Reconnection Center Program provides recovery of credits for students who are currently failing, failed, or seeking acceleration. It offers an online coursework environment managed by an educational team on campus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the program at the assigned campus and achieve annual program performance goals.
  • Structure a physical classroom conducive to learning.
  • Communicate policies and procedures with school administration and guidance personnel.
  • Provide encouragement and motivation to all students and assist them in setting goals, planning, and pacing their learning.
  • Differentiate instruction using assessment results.
  • Communicate student performance regularly with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Oversee course completion procedures.
  • Teach within the course of study as prescribed by student needs using online resources provided by Apex Learning and district prescribed curriculum.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities for Reconnection Center facilitators on research-based pedagogy, curriculum, and programs aligned to ensure success with at-risk students.
  • Support the district-wide community of practice to support best practice sharing, problem-solving, and collaboration among educators seeking to implement digital curriculum as a supplement to direct teaching.
  • Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills, technology proficiency, and willingness to implement research-based instructional models.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule that allows for the execution of a comprehensive educational program throughout the center’s hours of operation.
  • Provide professional consultation, direction, and assistance to faculty and students regarding the program’s best practices.
  • Cookordination with counseling staff to confirm graduation requirements are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a directly related field.
  • Required: Valid Texas Teacher Certificate with required endorsements for subject and subject level assigned (any content high school certification).
  • Three years of directly related experience.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
  • Demonstrate general knowledge of curriculum and instruction, including digital curriculum.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Exercise considerable and sound judgment to instruct students and manage their behavior, under the general direction of the principal.
  • Ability to self-manage in pursuit of an end goal and to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; natural relationship- and coalition-builder; ability to interact congenially with staff, parents, students, and community members.
  • Handle multiple priorities with frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of various routine tasks, duties, and procedures and the ability to follow specific instructions with little or no previous experience.
  • Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.
