Overview

The Revenue Repair Technician diagnoses and repairs electronic fare box, and revenue collection systems specifically concentrating on repairs on all fare box and revenue collection systems to include fare box, receivers, vaults, and any additional revenue collection equipment. All work performed must be of the highest quality ensuring systems are reliable and function correctly. Employee is required to work in such a manner that promotes a safe and productive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnostics bus electronic revenue collection equipment problems using a variety of diagnostic equipment including the multi-meter, laptop, computer, schematics and wiring diagrams on site and on road calls.
  • Repairs revenue collection and other electronic bus equipment as required. Repairs may include but are not limited to bus fare box, receivers, vaults, ticket vending machines, card reader, bill transports, coin mechanisms, and other types of equipment.
  • Completes paperwork needed to initiate the warranty process if applicable.
  • Tracks and reviews repair information from files investigating repetitive problems or existing fleet defects on parts under warranty.
  • Performs scheduled maintenance on all systems as required.
  • Completely documents all work performed in RTA software system.
  • Affords assistance to other Revenue Systems Repair Technicians with lifting and with other requests.
  • Affords assistance to other mechanics as requested and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Might be trained in Destination Sign repair (Luminator and Hanover), SmartDrive and other bus technology as assigned.

Qualifications

  • ASE Certifications Preferred.
  • Three (3) years progressive heavy electronic box repair experience required.
  • Two (2) year certificate in bus electronic systems preferred.
  • A high school diploma or GED required.
  • Must have computer word processing skills.
  • Must have the knowledge and ability to perform micro-processing wiring and repair and controller wiring and repairs.
  • Must have an in depth understanding of the principles of the profession and systems on active fleet.
  • Must be able to work with diagnostic equipment, to include the use of schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Must have the ability to communicate diagnostic information, schematics, and electrical problems both verbally and in written form to Maintenance staff and outside vendors.
  • Must have knowledge of the warranty process.
  • Must work amid frequent interruptions.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and be detail oriented.
  • Must have basic understanding of codes and regulations.
  • Elementary radio skills required.
  • Must be autonomous and self-directed.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities including lifting up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a Commercial Driver's License, Class B with Passenger endorsement.
  • Must be able to pass physical examination including a drug test.

Tools, Equipment And Vehicles

  • Diagnostic equipment such as a computer (laptop), multi-meter, schematics and wiring diagrams, various hand tools, various pneumatic tools, two-way radio
  • Additional Job Requirement: Wear uniforms and management approved Safety Shoes. Work hours vary based on which shift is picked.

Physical Demands

Approximately 50% of the work is performed out of doors. Must be able to lift seventy-five (75) pounds. Performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, repetitive hand-wrist motion, and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, standing, bending, and handling materials. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to heat/cold conditions.
