Job Description

The Revenue Operations Department at AHRC New York City utilizes multiple billing systems to bill various services provided to clients. The Revenue Operations Specialist will work on these systems, external payer portals, or government sites to complete tasks such as eligibility determination, billing, payment posting, and handling appeals.

  • Serves as a super user of billing software systems and mentors and assists other team members.
  • Analyzes and takes necessary actions for rejected or denied claims, including submitting appeals, correcting claims, and resolving self-pay billing or write-offs.
  • Reviews system aging accounts weekly to follow up as needed.
  • Identifies and addresses inconsistencies or system functionality issues affecting billing and collection processes.
  • Collaborates with inter-agency departments on billing, collections, and compliance matters.
  • Prepares self-pay, liability, and other billing forms as required.
  • Bills, posts, and reconciles Medicaid, Medicare, and Managed Care claims across multiple systems.
  • Works with the compliance department on billing changes, voids, or write-offs.
  • Affords leadership in improving billing practices, guidelines, and department procedures.
  • Trains or re-trains current and new employees on systems and departmental policies.
  • Performs back-up duties as defined to cover for vacancies, vacations, or extended leave.
  • Completes ad-hoc tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Analytical problem-solving skills to diagnose and troubleshoot process, payer, and system functionality issues.
  • An associate degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or equivalent job-related experience (bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • Three years of experience in a physician’s office, clinic, hospital business office, or related field, or two years of experience in Atypical billing, OPWDD, Medicaid Waiver, Article 16, and/or Article 31 billing and denial management.
  • Intermediate to expert-level experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong adaptability to both old and new billing systems.
