About the role
The Revenue Cycle Generalist is an entry-level position that provides administrative support to the Billing and Reimbursement departments. This is a full-time role, Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM out of our Bloomington location.
Responsibilities
- Ensure professional communication over the phone, via email, or other written documentation and respond to all inquiries
- Maintain a working knowledge of health care plan requirements and health plan networks
- Mail and attach appropriate documentation to refund checks
- Scan and fax documents for Revenue Cycle
- Process and distribute incoming and outgoing mail
- May make outbound phone calls to patients as follow up to unpaid, denied, or rejected billing claims and document according to current policy
- Retrieve and distribute medical records as requested
- Insurance and patient payment processing
- Patient account review to ensure accurate payment posting
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED or equivalent
- Administrative experience preferred
- Accounting and/or cash drawer balancing experience preferred

- Ability to comply with all applicable laws and regulations (e.g. HIPAA, Stark, OSHA, employment laws, etc.)
- Ability to demonstrate prompt and reliable attendance

- Ability to prioritize workload effectively
- Ability to communicate respectfully and professionally in face-to-face, phone and email interactions
- Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Actual starting pay will vary based on education, skills, and experience. Working Conditions
- Hybrid work schedule with in-office presence 2-3 days per week after completion of training
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching within the office environment
- Ability to sit for extended periods (up to 8 or more hours per day)
- Ability to lift and carry office supplies or files weighing up to 20 pounds
- Visual acuity to read electronic and paper documents
- Auditory ability to participate in phone or video calls clearly
- Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, phone, printer)
