About the role
The Revenue Accountant will manage monthly percentage-of-completion revenue calculations for assigned projects, review project budgets, labor projections, consultant costs, and estimates-at-completion (EACs) to support accurate revenue recognition. They will partner with Project Managers to review project financial health and identify risks related to scope, fee burn, labor overruns, and write-offs. This role also supports project reviews and financial performance meetings with office, market and regional leaders.
Responsibilities
- Manage monthly percentage-of-completion revenue calculations for assigned projects.
- Review project budgets, labor projections, consultant costs, and estimates-at-completion (EACs) to support accurate revenue recognition.
- Partner with Project Managers to review project financial health and identify risks related to scope, fee burn, labor overruns, and write-offs.
- Prepare monthly project revenue, profitability, and backlog reporting for operational and executive leadership.
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor to Project Managers and Principals.
- Provide training on project accounting policies, project financial management, and profitability drivers.
- Support standardized project setup, budgeting, forecasting, and revenue recognition practices across offices.
- Collaborate with Operations and Project Accounting teams to improve project financial visibility and controls.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- 3-5+ years of project accounting and/or revenue accounting experience.
- Experience within architecture, engineering, or professional services organization is preferred.
- Strong understanding of percentage-of-completion accounting, project-based revenue recognition, and project profitability metrics.
- Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint, Deltek Vision, or similar ERP/project accounting systems preferred.
- Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
