Revenue Accountant

Job Summary

The Revenue Accountant will report directly to the Revenue Accounting Manager and assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including recording journal entries, completing reconciliations and compiling information for the financial reporting package. This position works closely with the Sales team, Finance team, and external customers to minimize aged deductions and improve cash flow.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage monthly revenue accounting processes in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Prepare and review revenue-related journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
• Aid in external and internal audit requests by providing documentation and analysis.
• Prepare schedules and reporting used in management and financial reporting packages.
• Account for customer trade deductions, chargebacks, shortages, returns, and promotional allowances.
• Analyze deduction trends and identify root causes for recurring issues.
• Review customer remittances and deduction documentation for accuracy.
• Partner with Sales team to validate promotional activity and funding.
• Recommend process improvements to reduce invalid deductions and improve collection performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 2-4 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience performing account reconciliations and month-end close activities.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Experience

• In consumer-packaged goods (CPG), food & beverage, or wholesale industries.
• 1+ years of experience of accounting for trade deductions, chargebacks, or customer allowances.
• Experience with NetSuite or other ERP software.
• Experience with large retail customer deduction programs.
• Experience with customer portals & deduction management systems.
• Experience with gross-to-net accounting and trade promotion management.
