About the department
You will become part of the Department of Forensic Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The institute consists of 3 departments, of which the Department of Forensic Genetics is one. Our main task is to perform DNA analyses for the police, the Family Court, the courts, etc. in criminal cases and cases concerning paternity and family reunification.
Certain tasks at the institute provide insight into incidents that may cause psychological impact. To handle this, the institute offers various forms of help and support, including preventive measures.
We solve our tasks at a high professional level and have an informal tone. We emphasize community and that all colleagues share responsibility for a good and safe working environment. You will be attached to a secretariat and will collaborate with other professional groups, including forensic geneticists, laboratory technicians, bioanalysts, and IT developers. We currently have around 110 employees in the department. We are a workplace that, due to the nature of our tasks, places high demands on precision, reliability, impartiality, and confidentiality. We are accredited according to the international laboratory standard ISO 17025, and all our analyses follow this standard.
We are located in the Teilum building on Frederik V's Vej in Østerbro, next to Fælledparken. You have the opportunity to park for free under the Panum Institute. We have flexible working hours when the work allows. The institute offers a beneficial massage scheme for our employees. Pay and schedule
- Average weekly working hours: 37
- Employment as a office worker in accordance with the collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees' Organisations – The State Area (OAO collective agreement) and the organisation agreement for Office Workers, Laboratory Technicians, and IT Employees (HK) in the state
- Salary placement in salary group 3, level 1. There will be opportunities for negotiating supplements based on qualifications
- Start date: 1 October 2026
