About the role

Responsibilities

• Test and record patient’s far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception
• Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes and collect and process specimens for testing
• Triage emergency cases into physicians’ schedules and maintain patient flow
• Prepare patient and procedure rooms and assist ophthalmologists with procedures as needed
• Perform first-level maintenance on equipment and notify the office manager of any malfunctions
• Utilize infection control techniques and universal precautions, maintaining confidentiality at all times

Requirements

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Outgoing personality, enthusiastic about interacting with patients daily
• Comfortable providing white-glove service and responding quickly to patient needs
• Dependable problem-solver, able to stay calm in stressful situations
• Positive attitude and strong collaboration skills
• Flexible, able to adapt to changes
• Knowledgeable in ocular pharmacology, including anesthetics, steroids, antibiotics, mydriatics, cycloplegics, epinephrine, miotics, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in ophthalmic settings preferred
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
