Position Overview
The Retail Floor Manager oversees daily floor and coffee bar operations, supervises staff, manages scheduling and labor efficiency, maintains inventory accuracy, and communicates product needs to buyers. This role works actively on the floor — coaching employees, assisting customers, driving sales, and maintaining high store standards. This position is accountable for monthly sales performance and leading the team to hit store sales targets.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Staff Management
- Supervise and support retail and coffee bar associates during shifts
- Create and manage the employee schedule
- Maintain staffing levels within the store’s labor budget
- Assign daily tasks and ensure team accountability
- Train and coach staff on customer service, product knowledge, and conversational selling
- Teach team members how to recommend add-on purchases
- Assist with training new team members
- Help maintain positive team culture and morale
- Address minor performance issues and communicate with ownership/management
Sales & Guest Experience
- Actively engage customers and guide purchases
- Help customers find products — including items they didn’t initially plan to buy
- Model strong selling behaviors for the team
- Lead by example on upselling and add-on sales
- Monitor daily and monthly sales performance
- Lead the team to achieve monthly sales goals
Sales Floor & Coffee Bar Operations
- Ensure retail floor and coffee bar stay fully stocked, organized, and efficient
- Maintain food safety and cleanliness standards in beverage service area
- Monitor high-traffic areas and adjust staffing as needed
- Step in to assist customers and support sales during busy periods
- Open and/or close the store when scheduled
Inventory & Merchandising
- Run regular cycle counts and investigate discrepancies
- Notify buyers when inventory is running low
- Coordinate restocking from back stock
- Monitor coffee bar supplies and communicate reorder needs
- Assist with merchandising, seasonal displays, markets, and events
Cleanliness & Store Standards
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the store and beverage areas
- Ensure product displays remain neat and presentable
- Enforce daily cleaning checklists
- Keep storage and workspaces organized and safe
Qualifications
- Prior retail leadership or keyholder experience required
- Food service or coffee experience preferred (not required)
- Experience scheduling staff and managing labor hours preferred
- Comfortable selling and coaching others to sell
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy retail environment
- Customer-first mindset and positive attitude
- Able to stand and move throughout shift and lift up to 40 lbs
