Retail Store Manager ($55K-$65K, Exp. Managing a Team of 20+ Req.)
About the role
Our client, an established retailer with multiple locations across Wisconsin, seeks a Manager for their Big Bend location, just south of Waukesha. You will oversee overall store performance, lead the execution of inventory resets, and manage a team that seasonally fluctuates between 23–32 employees. The ideal candidate will have experience managing a retail property and is extremely hands-on, resourceful, collaborative, and accountable. Assistant Store Managers or Department Managers from Big Box/large scale retailers will be considered. To be successful, you must be comfortable with ambiguity in year one as you experience a complete cycle of seasonal resets and the variables that come into play. Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on leadership to support store operations, profitability, and customer experience
- Implement and monitor merchandising resets and marketing plans
- Oversee all staff (23–32 people), including Assistant Managers & department leads
- Provide coaching to store associates and Assistant Managers
- Create a daily plan and staff assignments
- Oversee inventory, scheduling, and customer service processes
- Track store performance, KPIs, and proactively address areas of concern
- Start-up computer systems for opening and support cashiers with troubleshooting as needed
- Ensure daily cycle counts are completed and sent to the corporate office
- Align store culture with company vision and values
- Develop strong partnerships with store personnel, buyers, vendors, and corporate leadership
- Protect and maintain company assets and resources
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience as a retail store manager with full ownership of operations
- Management experience with 20+ team members
- Highly hands-on and comfortable working on your feet in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent computer skills, including experience with Inventory & POS software
- Ability to attend offsite training 1 day per week for the first 3 months
- Ability to work 100% on-site

Pay
$55,000–$65,000 + Annual Bonus Potential
Schedule
- Off-season: 40 hours per week
- Busy season: 42–44 hours per week
- Peak season: 50 hours per week
- Store hours: Most days 9 am–6 pm or 7 pm (openers arrive 1 hour prior)
Travel
Local (~5-day trips annually)
