Retail Store Management Trainee - 2838
This role is designed for external retail assistant managers and store managers interested in “fast-tracking” into a Store Management position. The position offers an hourly wage of $19.50 to $27.00 per hour, plus the opportunity to earn up to 8% commission on transactions, which could average an additional $6.01 per hour on top of the hourly rate.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Store Manager Trainee with a minimum of six months of Store Management experience. A Store Manager Trainee is accountable for the day-to-day operations of the store and promoting a positive and productive environment. This position partners with the Store Manager to lead and develop store employees, recruit and retain top talent, maximize financial goals, and manage customer relations and satisfaction. The role involves analyzing store financial statements to ensure financial goals are met, committing to the company’s asset protection program, and promoting business growth through new customer acquisitions. Trainees work with a wide variety of merchandise, including jewelry, tools, electronics, and firearms (in FFL locations).
Responsibilities
- Facilitate a customer-centric environment by engaging customers in a friendly and professional manner and rapidly addressing customer issues.
- Monitor and assist in the training of Pawnbrokers to meet FirstCash standards.
- Recruit top talent by sourcing candidates through company-prescribed channels.
- Open and close the store, including counting cash drawers and merchandise, and ensuring asset protection procedures are followed.
- Ensure asset protection through inventory control, property safety procedures, documentation, and securing customer loans.
- Administer store processes and procedures, including inventory, loan management, merchandising, store presentation, and enterprise-level reporting.
- Evaluate the store’s financial statements and drive profitability through communication and goal-setting.
- Ensure operating standards meet or exceed FirstCash standards.
- Monitor loan qualification and buying processes to ensure value and integrity of all loans issued.
- Complete assigned tasks and training for self-development as requested.
- Communicate clearly with employees to ensure understanding of the store’s mission and profit objectives.
- Remain up-to-date on product knowledge.
- Act as manager on duty in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of retail management experience.
- Willing and able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform duties for extended periods, including standing, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise others.
- Ability to work with firearms and become firearms certified.
- Minimum age: 18 years old.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to work in multiple locations as business needs dictate.
- Flexible retail schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Work 45+ hours per week based on business needs.
- Computer literate with ability to operate Point-Of-Sale (POS) systems and common office machines.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Analytical skills and cash handling experience required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Schedule
Store Manager Trainees work 45+ hours per week, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs. Most stores operate from 9 AM to 6 PM and many are closed on Sundays.
