Retail Store Area Team Leader (Assistant Team Leader)
About the Role
As a Store Area Team Leader at Ocean State Job Lot (OSJL), you will be responsible for ensuring that all areas within your responsibility adhere to Company merchandising standards, managing the efficient flow of merchandise, and providing leadership and support to store teams. You'll need to be a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of merchandising principles and freight operations, as well as a motivational leader who can inspire and empower your team. You will leverage OSJL’s streamlined approach to technology, ensuring exceptional merchandising, operations, and a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
- Support Company programs flawlessly to maximize revenue and achieve store goals.
- Ensure the store runs smoothly in the absence of the Store Team Leader.
- Reconcile daily funds according to store closing procedures.
- Lead and support an efficient freight flow process, maintain a well-organized backroom, and achieve a 24-hour freight turnaround.
- Partner with the Store Team Leader to maintain optimal store inventory levels and ensure proper merchandising and product placement.
- Lead and support the timely and accurate placement of products on the sales floor, ensuring compliance with Company merchandising standards.
- Collaborate with the Store Team Leader to develop and implement effective merchandising strategies.
- Monitor, lead, and assist with freight flow, ensuring efficient receiving, processing, and stocking of merchandise.
- Coordinate the receiving team to ensure accurate receipt and inspection of merchandise.
- Identify and address product shortages or overstocks.
- Support the recruitment, training, and development of store associates.
- Identify and nurture high-potential associates for future growth.
- Ensure the store exceeds company standards for merchandising, cleanliness, and presentation.
- Monitor and maintain exceptional customer service.
- Support HCM processes, including associate data, timekeeping, benefits, and learning management system (LMS) operations.
- Maintain Oracle systems for store-related expenses.
- Review Domo Store Spotlight technology to ensure productivity goals are met.
- Utilize Thinktime for efficient store communications.
- Manage technology support and operational expectations using mobile devices.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of previous retail management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred).
- Proficiency in Google platform (Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets).
- Preferred experience with HCM and Business Intelligence tools.
Work Environment
Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Long periods of remaining stationary, moving, and positioning oneself are required throughout the shift. Conditions may vary across sales areas, stockrooms, and operations/office areas, including temperature, dust levels, and accessibility. Pay
The hourly pay range for this position is $22.00 to $24.00 per hour, with overtime eligible at a rate of $33.00 to $36.00 per hour.
