Retail Specialist
Specialist’s main responsibility is providing superior customer service, facilitating efficient sales transactions, and maintaining the sales floor. They educate customers, listen with empathy, and ensure smooth daily operations in partnership with leadership.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a positive, friendly experience by engaging customers through conversation and exceptional service.
- Enhance store atmosphere by prioritizing customer interactions over tasks.
- Exhibit strong floor presence, focusing on product placement, time management, and product knowledge.
- Actively participate in store trainings to maintain ongoing product and service education.
- Communicate department insights to direct supervisor and assist in upholding customer service standards.
- Work collaboratively within the team, taking initiative to achieve common goals.
- Assist in training and developing peers.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, follow-through, and problem-solving.
- Communicate store and company directives to peers and participate in daily meetings.
- Support shipping, receiving, and shipment turnaround processes as needed.
- Maintain clean and organized backstock areas.
- Operate point-of-sale systems accurately to ensure compliance with operational tasks.
- Ensure compliance with BCC, State, and City regulations, as well as company safety procedures.
- Train in loss prevention awareness and support adherence to loss prevention practices.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
- Assist in merchandising and displaying products, ensuring a neat and organized store environment.
- Demonstrate adaptability, professionalism, and integrity in all interactions.
- Make fast, smart decisions to improve personal and store performance.
- Accept responsibility for performance and meet commitments.
- Develop partnerships within the team to drive business success.
Requirements
- Must be 21+ years old.
- Minimum of 1-year experience in customer service in a retail environment.
- Must pass a federal background check via Live Scan in certain markets.
- B.A. preferred, but experience is paramount.
- Experience working in highly regulated businesses is desirable.
- Strong leadership skills and confidence in communicating at the store level.
- Ability to achieve statistical results (sales, shrinkage).
- Previous retail or cannabis experience preferred.
Work Environment
This role operates in a professional cannabis store environment and routinely uses standard office and store equipment such as computers, phones, printers, and POS systems. The position requires working evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk, and hear. The role frequently requires standing, walking, using hands or feet, reaching with hands and arms, and lifting a minimum of 50 lbs.
Schedule
This is a part-time or full-time non-exempt hourly position. Hours may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Travel to corporate offices or other store locations for training may be required.
