About the role

This is a permanent part-time role. The base hours for this position average from 3–8 hours per week across all stores, depending on store size and workload. Additional hours (typically 1–2 hours per week per store) are frequently assigned for special projects throughout the year, with higher demand from January through June. Full scheduling details will be reviewed during the interview.

ScanScape Retail Scan Associates visit a designated selection of stores each week to scan all product barcodes on displays and in aisle locations, including aisle end caps throughout the store. The data collected is analyzed and used to improve the sales performance of the product and retailer (store).

Being a Retail Scan Associate offers an opportunity in retail, providing workplace independence, some flexibility in hours, and job consistency. There will be continuous physical activity throughout the workday shift.

Responsibilities

  • Report to assigned stores within described deadlines
  • Complete Display Scanning on the entire store every week (can take several hours)
  • Perform Custom Projects as requested by clients (occur almost every week, adding 1–2 hours per store)
  • Use a downloadable mobile app to scan barcodes in numerous locations throughout each store
  • Provide quantity counts for approximately 45% of scanned products
  • Adhere to weekly deadlines for data delivery
  • Work across store types including grocery, convenience, drug, pet, and mass merchandise stores
  • Work with major brand retailers (Walmart, Kroger, Target, Albertsons, etc.) and independent retailers

Qualifications

  • At least 18 years old with a valid driver's license
  • Reliable vehicle with minimum state auto insurance coverage
  • Ability to endure being on your feet for long periods while accessing products throughout the store
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, reach 6 feet in the air, and bend/stretch/stoop/stand
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements with hands, wrists, arms, and legs for prolonged periods
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Deadline-driven self-starter
  • Access to reliable Wi-Fi
  • Tech savvy
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred)

  • Grocery store – New Paltz, NY 12561 – Available workdays: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
  • Mass merchandise store – Kingston, NY 12401 – Available workdays: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
  • Convenience store – Saugerties, NY 12477 – Available workdays: Sunday through Thursday

Pay

Hourly rate: $17–20 per hour.
