About the role

This is a permanent part-time position as a Retail Scan Associate. The data collected is analyzed and used to improve the sales performance of the product and retailer. The role offers workplace independence, some flexibility in hours, and job consistency, with continuous physical activity throughout the workday shift. Store types include grocery, convenience, drug, pet, and mass merchandise stores, working with major brand retailers like Walmart, Kroger, Target, Albertsons, and other national chains, as well as small independent retailers. Associates use a downloadable app on their mobile phone to scan barcodes in numerous locations throughout each store, and will be asked to provide the quantity of about 45% of the products scanned.

Responsibilities

  • Report to assigned stores within the described weekly deadline (52 weeks a year, including holiday weeks).
  • Complete Display Scanning for the entire store every week, which can take several hours.
  • Perform Custom Projects as requested by clients — additional detailed scanning in main stocking locations that occur almost every week and can add 30 minutes to 2 hours of work per store.
  • Adhere to weekly deadlines; dependability and quality-driven action are critical.
  • Scan barcodes using a mobile app and record quantities for approximately 45% of scanned products.

Qualifications

  • At least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable vehicle with minimum state auto insurance coverage.
  • Ability to endure being on your feet for long periods while accessing products throughout the store.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, reach 6 feet in the air, and bend, stretch, stoop, and stand.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements with hands, wrists, arms, and legs for prolonged periods.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Deadline-driven self-starter.
  • Access to reliable Wi-Fi.
  • Tech savvy; comfortable using a mobile app for data collection.
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred).

Benefits

  • Flexibility in working hours, tailored to accommodate both personal scheduling needs and client requirements.
  • Paid travel at your hourly rate (minus first and last 15 minutes).
  • Paid sick time.
  • Eligibility for 401(k) with employer matching contributions.
  • Monetary referral program.

Schedule

Base hours average 3–4 hours per week across all stores, depending on store size and workload.
