About This Role

The Sales Manager is responsible for leading, supervising, and developing the sales team while managing overall sales performance. This position plays a key role in driving store productivity, profitability, customer satisfaction, and team accountability. The Sales Manager reports directly to the Store Manager and supervises all retail sales associates and the Estimator.

What You'll Do

  • Greet and assist clients while helping resolve client inquiries, concerns, and complaints.
  • Monitor sales activity to ensure clients receive satisfactory service, quality products, and a positive experience.
  • Lead, coach, train, and support sales and support personnel.
  • Review, analyze, and interpret sales reports for appropriate timeframes.
  • Track individual and store-level sales performance, including progress toward personal and department goals.
  • Conduct regular sales meetings to review goals, performance, opportunities, and expectations.
  • Participate in a collaborative goal-setting process with sales staff and help them maintain accountability toward those goals.
  • Schedule one-on-one meetings with sales professionals to review performance, provide coaching, and recognize achievement.
  • Instruct staff on how to handle complicated sales situations, client concerns, and product questions.
  • Supervise the Estimator and coordinate communication between sales, estimating, and other departments.
  • Manage sales floor activity, product displays, merchandising, and overall presentation.
  • Examine merchandise to ensure it is correctly priced, displayed, and functioning as advertised.
  • Monitor inventory, product data, and merchandising needs.
  • Plan and coordinate advertising campaigns, sales promotions, merchandise displays, and advertising signage.
  • Work with company leadership to develop methods and procedures to increase sales, expand markets, and promote business.
  • Help establish and implement policies, goals, objectives, and procedures for the sales department.
  • Enforce safety, health, security, and company policies.
  • Plan and prepare work schedules and maintain records of employee schedules.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, evaluating, coaching, and corrective action processes for sales staff.
  • Work with the Store Manager to establish sales recognition, rewards, and incentive programs.
  • Aid in payment authorizations, merchandise returns, and budget-related decisions as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Prior sales experience.
  • Prior leadership, management, or team-supervision experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coach, train, and hold team members accountable.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret sales reports.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Comfortable setting goals, tracking performance, and following up with team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Professional, dependable, and team-oriented.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in flooring, home improvement, construction, design, or retail sales.
  • Experience with RFMS software.
  • Experience with inventory management software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience coordinating sales campaigns, promotions, or merchandising displays.
