Retail Sales Clerk

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Aid guests with questions and purchases, adhering to proper cash-handling, credit card, Passport Club Points, and Island Comps procedures.
• Ensure the accuracy of sales paperwork, including deposits, variances, and inventory system errors.
• Order, receive, organize, and manage merchandise, completing inventories as needed.
• Communicate with warehouse staff and vendors regarding shipments.
• Complete sales according to tobacco and alcohol policies.
• Open and/or close retail store as applicable, following department security and key standards.

Knowledge And Certification, Skills And Abilities

• Knowledge and Certification: Previous cash register experience, previous customer service experience, High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
• Skills: Accurate and detail-oriented, highly organized, ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills, above average math skills.
• Abilities: Ability to work fast and efficiently, ability to follow established dress code policies and practice good personal hygiene, ability to interact with guests, coworkers, and management in a professional and courteous manner, ability to serve both internal and external customers, ability to speak in a clear, concise, and pleasant voice, ability to complete multiple tasks in a professional manner, ability to enthusiastically and professionally sell/give upsell gift shop items and property amenities.
• Required Training: Treasure Island guest service training, Point-of-sales cash register training, TIPS training and certification, any position-related training as determined by department manager.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to walk and/or stand for periods of up to 8 hours.
• Must have a good sense of balance, and be able to bend and kneel.
• Must be able to reach and twist occasionally.
• Must be able to push, pull, and grasp objects routinely.
• Must be able to independently lift up to 25 pounds routinely.
• Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions.
• Must have good eye-hand coordination.

Working Environment

• Work is performed primarily in the retail and smoke shops, including flashing lights, frequent loud noises, and cigarette smoke.
• Must be able to work in cramped, tight quarters.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Occasionally overtime may be required.
• Occasionally must deal with angry or hostile individuals.
• High volume direct public contact.
