Job Title: Retail Sales Associate Pay: Starting at $16.00 per hour Location: Hearts for the Homeless Thrift Store Job Type: Part-Time Evenings only; Saturdays required. Work Location: In store, Tonawanda, NY Job Summary The Retail Sales Associate (RSA) plays a vital role in delivering an excellent shopping experience at the Hearts for the Homeless Thrift Store. This position supports all day-to-day retail operations, including customer service, register transactions, merchandising, store appearance, and collaboration with staff and volunteers. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment. Key Responsibilities Greet customers as they enter and exit the store in a friendly and professional mannerProvide high-quality customer service in alignment with company standards and scriptsOperate the cash register and point-of-sale system accurately, including cash and credit transactionsAssist customers with product questions and loyalty program sign-upsStock shelves and clothing racks to maximize shopping opportunitiesMaintain cleanliness and organization of the sales floor, fitting rooms, register area, restrooms, and other public areasRemove unsold merchandise as directed and assist with inventory needsSupport store opening and end-of-day closeout proceduresWork collaboratively with staff and volunteers, providing clear direction when neededCommunicate customer service issues, register discrepancies, and operational concerns to managementAttend required trainings and staff meetingsFollow company policies, procedures, and code of conductPerform other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred2 years of retail experience preferredExperience working with volunteers is a plusReliable, punctual attendance with flexibility to work scheduled shiftsAbility to multitask in a fast-paced environmentStrong customer service and communication skillsAbility to work independently or as part of a teamAbility to stand for extended periods and lift up to 35 poundsBasic computer skills, including POS systems, email, Microsoft Word, and Google DocsAttention to detail and ability to reconcile daily receipts Schedule Monday through Saturday - Minimum of two Saturdays a month required evening shifts Benefits Health insuranceDental insuranceVision insuranceHealth Savings Account (HSA)Flexible Spending Account (FSA)401(k) Work Environment In-person position (not remote) Why Join Hearts for the Homeless?
