About the role
The Retail Sales Associate provides exceptional customer service, assists customers with automotive parts and merchandise, processes sales transactions, stocks inventory, and helps maintain a clean, organized retail environment. This role involves serving customers over the telephone, in the store, or in the dealer’s shop, looking up parts in catalogs or POS systems, and processing orders with accuracy and courtesy. The incumbent advises customers on technical questions, demonstrates product knowledge, and may assist with local parts deliveries as needed.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and provide friendly, knowledgeable, and timely customer service
- Assist customers in identifying and selecting automotive parts, accessories, tools, and related merchandise
- Utilize available systems and resources to look up parts and determine appropriate products for customer needs
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and accurately process customer transactions
- Answer customer questions and assist with orders in person and over the phone
- Assist with receiving, stocking, pricing, and organizing inventory
- Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked sales and inventory areas
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate product needs to store management
- Participate in inventory counts and other inventory control activities
- Safely deliver automotive parts and supplies to customers, ensuring on-time and accurate deliveries
- Load and unload parts and merchandise for customers and deliveries as needed
- Assist with opening and closing store procedures as assigned
- Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure efficient store operations and a positive customer experience
- Enforce and abide by all cooperative policies, including credit policies
- Maintain good communication with all employees and customers
- Check with other departments to see if help is needed before ending the shift
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Good customer service skills and approach
- Valid driver’s license
