About the role
The CHEF’STORE Sales Associate helps maintain an atmosphere of superior customer service, promoting the US Foods strategy: Great Food, Made Easy. As a key member of our team, you will fill a variety of roles, including Cashier, Stocker, and Customer Courtesy. During a shift, you may work in any of our departments—front end, Meat/Frozen, Produce/Dairy, Dry Goods/Culinary Equipment & Supply—depending on customer and business needs. You may also assist during special store events such as Vendor Fairs, sales floor resets, and inventory processes.
Responsibilities
- Front End:
- Ensure all customers have an impeccable CHEF’STORE experience by developing and maximizing relationships.
- Perform sales and cash functions in the POS efficiently and accurately, including scanning merchandise, weighing product, and looking up unscannable items.
- Ensure each item’s barcode is accurately reflected in the system and report discrepancies.
- Perform cart-to-cart transfer of products at checkout, including visual inspection for tampering.
- Verify cart content vs. purchases as customers leave the store.
- Perform store opening and/or closing functions at the front end.
- Sales Floor and Stocking:
- Increase sales and manage shrinkage while assisting customers in finding products and informing them of available services.
- Receive inventory shipments, maintain and stock shelves neatly, and ensure proper rotation and product quality audits.
- Report low stock levels to store management and ensure all merchandise is properly labeled (e.g., blaster tagging, catch weight labels, PLU tags).
- Replenish sales floor daily by down stocking freight from top stock, following FIFO principles.
- Use reach trucks and pallet jacks for product movement and stocking.
- Assist with price changes as directed by store management.
- Participate in inventory and cycle count processes.
- Customer Courtesy:
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-maintained facility, including sales floor, front end, restrooms, parking lot, and store entry area.
- Notify store management of safety issues and correct them if possible.
- Gather carts from the parking lot and ensure they are clean and operable.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Store Management.
Requirements
- Minimum 6-12 months of retail cashier and/or stocking experience.
- One year of retail selling and/or customer service experience preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.
- Basic computer skills, cash handling experience, and proficiency with general office equipment.
- Ability to work a flexible hourly schedule, including holidays and weekends.

Physical Qualifications
Must be able to perform the following physical activities:
- Stand and walk continuously.
- Lift and carry:
- 1-20 lbs continuously.

- Over 100 lbs occasionally.
- Push/pull frequently (e.g., hand truck, gate, straps, metal ramp, dolly).
- Climb/balance frequently (e.g., in/out of truck/trailer, on/off ramp, stairs).
- Stoop/squat, bend, reach above shoulder, and twist frequently.
- Kneel occasionally.
- Grasp and manipulate objects continuously (e.g., boxes, hand truck, paperwork).
- Manual dexterity frequently (e.g., typing, using office machines).
Work is performed in a retail store setting with exposure to outside weather conditions, moderate noise, and temperature variations (-10 to 85 degrees).

Pay
Starting at $19.66 per hour. The expected base rate for this role is between $17.13 - $27, depending on relevant experience, education, skills, function, and geographic location.
Schedule
Full-Time (30-40 hours weekly), including holidays and weekends.
