As a Seasonal Retail Selling Colleague at Macy’s, you blend selling that delivers results with genuine hospitality to create standout holiday shopping experiences. You take the time to understand each customer’s needs, offering personalized recommendations and connecting them with the right products and services. Whether on the sales floor or in the fitting room, your warmth, product knowledge, and personal approach turn everyday visits into memorable moments. You stay focused on achieving selling goals by driving performance through customer engagement and smart selling behaviors. With every interaction, you build trust, meet sales targets, and inspire loyalty, making each visit both meaningful and successful. This role goes far beyond just being a cashier; the customer is at the heart of everything we do – every day, all day. You’ll also help keep the shopping space clean, organized, and inviting so every customer feels welcome the moment they walk in.

Responsibilities

• Greet teammates, wear name badge with pride, and ensure the sales floor is clean, organized, and prepared for customers.
• Review sales goals, learn about new arrivals and top‑selling items, and stay current on trends and promotions.
• Offer a warm welcome, make eye contact, and create friendly, personal conversations to build customer relationships.
• Maintain a shoppable space by merchandising new receipts, processing damages, testers, and select merchandise to return to vendors; update signs and pricing; support needed merchandise moves.
• Finish strong by sharing Loyalty program benefits, ensuring customers have all they need, and ending with a sincere thank‑you (often walking the package around and using the customer’s name).
• Support teammates with honesty, care, and collaboration to better serve customers and communities.
• Strive to improve daily, take pride in work, achieve sales goals, and learn from others to deliver individual and store results.

Requirements

• Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays with regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to understand and communicate effectively with customers, co‑workers, and supervisors.
• Ability to read and understand employment policies and safety rules/procedures in English.
• Motivated to meet daily sales‑goal challenges.
• Enjoy meeting people, learning about them, and sharing information.
• Resourceful and eager to start a new venture; able to adapt to changing priorities, work independently, and thrive in team dynamics.
• Comfortable using electronic devices.
• Essential physical requirements: talking, lifting, constant moving, standing, and reaching with arms and hands; standing for at least two consecutive hours; lifting at least 25 lbs.; stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders; reaching, including above eye level; close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment; frequent use of computers and other technology, including handheld equipment and cash register, to process register transactions.

Schedule

Seasonal colleagues are typically scheduled to work 10‑20 hours per week. Hours are dependent on business needs and colleague availability.
