About the role
Banner Home Health is looking for an experienced, self-motivated Pharmacy Technician to step into a brand-new, one-of-a-kind role where your expertise truly matters. In this position, you’ll serve as one of the first points of contact for new home health patients — conducting thorough medication histories, reviewing charts, and collaborating with pharmacies and physicians to ensure every patient's care journey starts safely and seamlessly.
You’ll work across two dynamic systems — Cerner and Home Care Home Base — and connect with up to 10–15 patients daily. This role offers personalized, hands-on training with leaders and staff, both virtually and in person, setting you up for success.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, dispense, and compound medication under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Provide prescription support services for patients to ensure safe, appropriate, effective, and efficient delivery of medication therapy.
- Review and interpret prescriptions under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Prepare and dispense the appropriate amount of medication.
- Deliver medications accurately to the patient.
- Answer phones, accept prescriptions, and communicate with patients in the waiting area.
- Assist with inventory, maintain a clean work environment, and perform administrative duties as assigned.
- Follow policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct thorough medication histories and review patient charts.
- Collaborate with pharmacies and physicians to ensure seamless patient care.
- May require periodic to frequent use of a personal computer and occasional off-site travel.
Requirements
- Pharmacy Technician licensure and active Pharmacy Technician certification OR Pharmacy Intern licensure in the state of practice.
- Incumbents in Arizona are required to provide the AZ Board of Pharmacy Wallet Card at time of hire.
- Minimum of 0-2 years of relevant work experience.
- Ability to attend and successfully complete 160 hours of on-the-job training.
- Strong customer service focus and superior problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to complete moderate to difficult mathematical calculations using a hand-held calculator.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Proficiency and experience with third-party claims adjudication and claims rejection reconciliation.
- Proficiency and experience with non-sterile, sterile, and hazardous drug compounding.
- Work experience demonstrating analytical ability, judgment, and interpersonal skills in pharmacy or healthcare.
- Experience and proficiency with computer software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) or comparable programs.

Registry/Per Diem positions do not have guaranteed hours and no medical benefits package is offered.
