About the role

The Pharmacy Technician supports clinical pharmacists in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications by serving as a key liaison between patients, providers, pharmacies, and insurance companies. Working under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, the pharmacy technician plays an important role in delivering medication and pharmaceutical care in communities that are most in need. This includes developing close relationships with patients in communities we serve and assisting the pharmacists in accurately preparing and delivering prescription medication. The technician ensures compliance with PCHC policies, regulatory standards, and Wisconsin Pharmacy Examining Board requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Always maintains a friendly and helpful attitude when dealing with customers.
  • Maintains professional working relationships with pharmacy personnel, physicians, nurses, and other medical personnel.
  • Understands that the requirements of working in a pharmacy are varied and may change as demands on the department change.
  • Become a subject matter expert (SME) in all pharmacy-related workflows, policies, and procedures.
  • Accurate medication name pronunciation.
  • Assist in developing resources and educational material for various populations.
  • Utilizes daily huddles to promote communication and efficient clinic flow.
  • Establishes a compassionate environment by ensuring staff adhere to the organization's professional standards.
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by monitoring confidential information processing.
  • Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Organizes medications for pharmacists to dispense by profiling prescriptions; preparing labels and calculating quantities.
  • Ensures medication availability by delivering medications to patients and ordering when needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education equivalent required.
  • LPT - Licensed Pharmacy Tech Active: current pharmacy technician license in good standing in Wisconsin required.
  • At least 2 years of retail pharmacy technician-related experience, 3+ years preferred.
  • 340B experience preferred.
  • Prior authorization review processes and Epic knowledge preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and experience in data entry using Excel, Access, or equivalent computer background.
  • In-depth understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality.

Schedule

This is a full-time position.

It is mandatory that all employees, employed providers, and volunteers are vaccinated. All hired candidates must submit proof of vaccination prior to their orientation.
