What You Will Do
- Provides accurate and timely retail pharmacy services for patients with medication needs that are being discharged or seen in the outpatient clinic setting at CHOP.
- Completes clinical verification of prescriptions including review of patient charts in compliance with CHOP policy and all accrediting agency and regulatory guidelines for pharmacy dispensing.
- Provides quality medication pharmacotherapy and collaborates with physicians, nurses, other health care professionals as well as the patient/caregiver to deliver safe patient care and optimal patient care and outcomes.
- Refers patients for enrollment to other CHOP Pharmacy services when applicable.
- Completes all patient documentation timely and in compliance with CHOP policy.
- Verifies and confirms validity of all prescriptions received by CHOP Retail Pharmacy.
- Verifies the accuracy of prescription information entered into the pharmacy dispensing system and product selection of dispensed medications.
- Provides customer service and communicates with prescribers, patients, and/or insurance representatives as needed to expedite processing of patient orders.
- Provides and receives accurate and timely communication to render interdisciplinary patient care.
- Provides drug information and/or presents educational programs to healthcare professionals and patients.
- Provides training and orientation to new retail pharmacy staff regarding pharmacy services.
- Supervises pharmacy technicians and interns to ensure that daily production, quality, and service levels are maintained.
- Participates in departmental process improvement initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Retail Pharmacy Management.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy Required
- Doctorate in Pharmacy Preferred
Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of pharmacy information systems, automated dispensing technology and personal computers preferred.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to neonate, child, and adolescent preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- Licensed Pharmacist (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required

- SALARY RANGE: $56.70 - $75.10 Hourly
