Retail Party & Event Host - Part Time

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events (including children’s birthday parties and craft classes) within the store, ensuring a stress‑free, fun experience for guests.
• Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects, perform face painting, and manage party add‑ons such as goody bags and balloons.
• Communicate event details with clients and store team members, adjust plans based on client feedback, and create backup or emergency plans as needed.
• Provide friendly customer service: assist shoppers, promote the Rewards program and private‑label credit cards, and ensure fast, courteous checkout.
• Complete operational tasks: unload trucks, stock merchandise, maintain planograms, perform merchandise recovery, and uphold store recovery standards.
• Maintain store cleanliness and safety, including set‑up, break‑down, and cleaning before and after events, and daily cleaning duties (sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, restroom upkeep).
• Support shrink and safety programs, adhere to SOPs, and follow company policies and legal requirements.
• Cross‑train in custom framing sales and production as needed.
• Handle administrative duties such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork.

• Energetic, enthusiastic personality with the ability to handle job stress.
• Excellent people skills and experience working with children and children’s events.
• Retail or customer‑service experience required.
• Strong communication skills (written, verbal, non‑verbal) and active listening.
• Organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem‑solving abilities.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods and move throughout the store.
• Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching; lift heavy boxes.
• Access high shelves using ladders or similar equipment.
• Occasional outdoor work (e.g., retrieving shopping carts, unloading trucks).
• Work in a climate‑controlled public retail area; some stock rooms may not be climate‑controlled; frame shop contains glass cutter and heat press.

Work Schedule

• Shifts may include nights, weekends, and early mornings.
• Flexibility to work varied hours as store needs dictate.

Pay

Total Base Pay Range: $12.77 – $15.00 per hour. Position may be eligible for overtime compensation in accordance with state and local laws.
