Retail Outdoor Lead

Overview

At House of Sport, the Outdoor Lead will provide thoughtful product recommendations fitting the skill/experience level of each athlete. They will direct workflow and oversee department operations under the Assistant Store Manager's guidance. Additionally, they will build meaningful relationships with athletes engaged in outdoor activities such as fishing, camping, hiking, etc.

Customer Service & Sales

• Drive the highest level of customer service within the Outdoor department, aligning with company service and selling standards.
• Bring to life the power of opinion by making the explorer experience include product experts who provide consultative advice and demonstrate excellent product knowledge.
• Honour standards for merchandise presentation, showcasing top sporting goods brands through floor sets, sign requirements, price changes, replenishment, and recovery processes, in-stock, etc.
• Guide and educate athletes through purchases by communicating information on use and maintenance of their equipment and accessories.

Scheduling & Operations

• Aid the store management team in general supervision, including opening and closing the store, performing Front End and Cash Office functions.
• Assist the manager with department scheduling, directing workflow, assigning daily guides, and monitoring project status.
• Communicate Company initiatives, programs, promotions, etc., to department guides.
• Maintain Company loss prevention standards and controls.

Mentoring & Developing Talent

• Assist with training associates on Company procedures and programs, including new hire training and cross-training current associates.
• Train and mentor new hires by sharing experience, knowledge, and best practices.
• Provide timely feedback on projects, tasks, and deliverables.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-3 years of experience; prior retail experience preferred.

Targeted Pay Range

The targeted pay range is $18.00 - $26.00 per hour. Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including location, experience, and position offered.
