Retail Manager - Hunting
About the role
The Hunting Retail Manager oversees the Hunting/Firearms departments ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and company policies, merchandise presentation, inventory control, sales enhancement, Outfitter selection development, and customer service activities.
Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance with ATF, state, local laws, and company policies, including 4473 and 3310 forms.
- Manages firearm safe handling, safety, and operational standards within the firearms department.
- Supports a culture of exceptional customer service and maintains a positive shopping experience.
- Maintains financial and sales goals as outlined by the company.
- Oversees store operations, including opening and closing, and acts as the "Manager on Duty."
- Staffs departments with "service" oriented employees; conducts interviews, selects, trains, and evaluates staff; prepares and approves performance appraisals; recommends merit/promotional increases; prepares weekly work schedules; coaches and motivates employees to foster positive customer relations and a productive team environment.
- Solves customer and Outfitter issues.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities as per company policies and applicable laws.
- Provides a superior customer experience by assisting in decision-making, product evaluation, and promotion of programs like CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pickup.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of retail management experience.
- Strong ability to calculate figures and amounts, interpret financial, legal, and technical information, and write reports.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to conduct meetings and presentations.
- Proficiency with PC-based word processing, spreadsheets, data-based management, and electronic point of sale/inventory management systems.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 100 pounds, and operate machinery and heavy equipment.
- Experience with Team concept of Management.
