About the Opportunity
The Retail Food Safety Auditor role is responsible for conducting food safety audits across New York City and surrounding New Jersey areas. This position plays a key role in educating foodservice personnel on compliance with specific safety standards, helping businesses maintain public health and safety. The role involves travel and direct interaction with various food establishments, contributing to the organization’s mission by ensuring food safety standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Conduct food safety audits at restaurants, bars, grocery stores, and foodservice locations in NYC and nearby New Jersey
- Inform and educate personnel on food safety standards and compliance requirements
- Travel locally with 10% overnight travel, typically 2-3 days per month, to complete audits
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and regulations
- Support the organization’s mission to improve consumer health and safety through precise auditing
Requirements
- Ability to travel within NYC and surrounding New Jersey areas, including overnight travel
- Strong communication skills to educate and inform foodservice personnel
- Knowledge of food safety standards and industry regulations
- Capability to work independently and manage audit schedules
